the four quarters of the city; each providing endless opportunities for
relaxation, sightseeing and unique experiences.
On another day we visited the Tunnel of Hope, built in 1993 in the midst of the
Bosnian War.
n our way to our next destination we stopped to visit the enchanted town
Oof Mostar with its beautiful 16th and 17th century mosques, medieval
buildings and cobbled streets that survived the war completely. We walked
across the most celebrated Ottoman Bridge that links the two sides of the town.
n Dubrovnik we had views of the shimmering Adriatic Ocean, beautiful
Imarble streets and baroque buildings as we walked along the ancient city
walls of medieval Dubrovnik.
e toured the tiny country of the Republic of Montenegro as we explored
Wthe charming little villages along the Bay of Kotor.
e saw the sights of Hvar, including incredible views from the Hvar
WFortress.
n our way to Split we visited the town of Trogir, where artists from around
Othe world gather to paint.
n the always buzzing, exuberant city of Split and we enjoyed a tour of the
Iworld’s most impressive Roman Monument, the Diocletian’s Palace.
n Plitvice we stayed right in the National Park, only 400 metres from
Ithe highest waterfall. We spent two nights in Plitvice Lakes National
Park. We Discovered the natural beauty of Plitvice Lakes National Park as we
were guided on a walking tour showcasing its magnificent turquoise lakes,
waterfalls and cascades.
e spent two nights in Opatija, often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the
WAdriatic’. Enjoyed an orientation tour of this remarkable seaside resort
town and learn all about its splendid past.
e had a a full day excursion to the heart shaped peninsula of Istra and
Wspend some time exploring the ancient Roman Town of Poreč as well as
the fishing village of Rovinj, considered the star attraction of Istria. Visited the
town of Pula for a city tour and to see the Roman amphitheatre.
s we cross the border into Slovenia we stop at the incredible Postojna
ACaves, we marvel at the two million year old stalagmite and stalactite
formations at the Caves, a series of caverns, halls and passages some 20km
long and hallowed out by the Pivka River. We stop to see the impressive
Predjama Castle, which sits inside a cave.
