e take a morning sightseeing
Wtour of the city and its
impressive 900-year-old Upper
Town. To reach the Upper Town we
needed to ascend a large set of stairs
beside a funicular, probably around
200 steps. We saw the churches of
St Mark’s and St Catherine’s and
visited the Cathedral, the tallest
building in Croatia. We walked
through the markets and back to the
main square.
The afternoon was at leisure to
explore the cobblestone streets at
our own pace and admire its old-
world graciousness and friendly,
lively energy before the night’s group
welcome dinner.
