Evidence Write a News Story
PROMPT
In The Galveston Hurricane of 1900, you read what happened when a powerful
storm struck the city of Galveston, Texas. The text presented the events from
both first-person and third-person points of view.
Imagine that you are a newspaper reporter in 1900. Write a front-page story for
your newspaper telling about the Galveston hurricane. Don’t forget to use some
of the Critical Vocabulary words in your writing.
PLAN
Write the following: Who? When? Where? What? Why? and How? Then
use the question words to make notes about the hurricane. Remember
that you will be telling the story from a third-person point of view.
