Susan B. Anthony was an important activist , born in 1820. Susan’s father believed men
and women were equal. Later Lucretia Mott influenced her ideas about helping others and
the evils of slavery . Susan later became a teacher and was paid less than male
teachers. She was treated poorly because she was a woman. Susan then met Elizabeth Cady
Stanton, also an activist, and they worked together for women’s rights . Susan worked
to end slavery, helped get married women the right to own property , and fought
for women’s right to vote. In 1920, women were given the right to vote in the
United States.
