Stonehenge

                The earliest part, Stonehenge I, was constructed


         around 3100 B.C.E. It was a circular earth bank, about



         100 meters in diameter, with a ditch inside it. The ditch



         was 6 meters wide and 2 meters deep. Stonehenge I was



         used for some time, but then, for unknown reasons, it



         was abandoned for 1,000 years.
