Stonehenge










             Since the people did not use                                                                           lintels



      any large animals, humans did



      all the work. Popular theories                                                                              sarsen



      about Stonehenge suggest that the sarsens were moved



      on sledges and rollers. Then, workers dug large holes in



      the ground. They pushed one end of a sarsen into a hole

      and pulled the top end upright with ropes. Next, a flat top


      stone was put on top of every two sarsens. When all the



      top stones were joined, they formed a perfect circle.
