Culinary Arts Students Learn About Post-Secondary Oppor-
tunities and New Cuisine
Chef Austin Vennetti from
Johnson and Wales University
spoke with Culinary students
about opportunities at JWU
after graduation. Students
were excited to try his Korean
Kimchi Pancakes with Beef
Bulgogi. They also had a visit
and received information
from Chef Patrick about The Culinary Institute of the Carolinas program through
Greenville Technical College. He demonstrated and then allowed students to try
their hands at rolling sushi, making tempura, Japanese curry, and sumai.
DMTC Has a Record Number of Students Earning OSHA
Certifications
DMTC is proud to recognize all the students earning
OSHA 10-Hour Certifications this semester. OSHA
stands for The Occupational Safety and Health Ad-
ministration, which is a large regulatory agency of
the United States Department of Labor responsible
for worker safety and health protection. The OSHA
Certification is a 10-hour course required by many
employers. This certification will not only help stu-
dents learn important safety and health aspects,
but it will also help make them more marketable as they enter the workforce. As a
bonus, it will also help our completers at DMTC earn the Career Ready designation
recognized by the State Department of Education. We had many classes achieve a
100% pass rate, including our Welding II students pictured above.
