WESTERN CAPE GOVERNMENT’S

            BOLD NEW ECONOMIC GROWTH

            STRATEGY, ‘GROWTH FOR JOBS’

The Western Cape Government (WCG) knows that factors like the ongoing energy crisis,
water insecurity, lack of infrastructure investment, poor transport links, skills shortages,
and crime make it challenging for businesses – and therefore South Africa – to make
            meaningful economic progress.

The WCG recently launched our Growth for Jobs Strategy (G4J), aimed at ensuring that our
government provides a conducive and enabling environment in our province that fosters as
much private sector-led growth as possible. As you will see in the attached executive summary
and full strategy document, we are striving to build a trillion-rand, jobs-rich, inclusive economy
that is growing between 4-6% in real terms by 2035.

It is an absolute priority of this government to make it as easy as possible for businesses
to successfully establish, operate and to grow. Through targeted interventions we aim to
attract the best of South Africa and the world’s commerce and manufacturing industries to
            our province.

Our mission is to ensure that businesses have access to the energy, water, infrastructure,
skills, and technology they need to grow and succeed. We want to enable a well-functioning
commercial and legal environment where the private sector can invest and grow with
            certainty and assurance.
