the sound of hair frying, then brush through and style. The finished style
looked great and the hair looked healthy, very black and shiny from all
the oil, but in truth very damaged underneath all the oil.
I was hoping on my return from America that I would be able to say to
my staff “This is the right way to do it”, sadly, I could not get any
technical information from any of the manufactures, so all I can do is
relate to you what saw us through chemical processes in my six salons, I
am not saying this information is right, all I am saying is that with no
technical information available this seemed the best way for us.
Before you begin apply Vaseline to the areas around the frontal hairline,
on top of the ears and lots on the nape of the neck, this is to protect the
skin from burning in these sensitive areas. where it is easy to burn the
skin.
When you open a box of relaxer you will find one sheet of paper with
polythene gloves laminated over the top of the instructions, the
instructions seem very simple, there is a nice sketch of a head of straight
hair divided into four sections, it recommends starting on one of the neck
sections first and then work your way through the other three sections.
Comb it all through, and use the back of the comb to flatten the hair to the
scalp section by section. This would work if you were dealing with
straight hair like in the sketch but the chances are that the client sitting
before you has a whole head of naturally frizzy hair almost impossible to
comb into nice neat sections.
