A mayfly lives for just one day, but some
sharks can live for over 200 years! 4 2
Giant tortoises live on the Galápagos
Islands in the Pacific Ocean. They can
live for a very long time. The oldest giant
tortoises are over 180 years old!
First, the mother tortoise lays an egg. 3
When a baby tortoise is born, it’s called
a hatchling. They grow for a few years
and become a juvenile or child. Then
they grow for another 25 to 40 years
and become an adult.
