The Greenland shark is a fi sh. It lives in the Arctic
Ocean, which is very cold. It has one of the longest
lifespans – it can live for 400 years!
The Greenland shark is huge. Some are over
six metres long and weigh 1 ,000 kilograms! It’s
the largest fi sh in the Arctic Ocean and it swims
very slowly.
The Greenland shark eats meat, but it doesn’t need
to hunt. That’s because it can eat dead fi sh and seals!
If you catch a Greenland shark, do not eat it. Its
meat is poisonous!
