Test 3 answer key
Part 6
Sample answer A
Your welcome. I’m selling because I think it is old and I don’t like the
colour. It is $10.50. We can meet in Sunday at half past seven. Have a
nice day my friend.
Commentary and mark
A very good attempt at the task. All three elements of the message are Content 5
fully communicated, and the target reader would be fully informed. The
Organisation 4
text is connected and coherent, using mainly basic, high-frequency
Language 4
linking words with a limited number of cohesive devices (because, and,
It is). The message uses simple grammatical forms with good control Total 13
(I’m selling, I think it is, I don’t like). Basic vocabulary is used generally
appropriately (old, the colour, nice day). Errors are minimal and
meaning can easily be determined (Your welcome, in Sunday).
Sample answer B
You are welcome Jan. Because I have buy the new laptop and I selling my
old laptop. I want not much but one hunderod pound it is okey for you.
Can you give address I will pring you but can I take the money early
because I need to much.
Commentary and mark
A satisfactory attempt at the task. The third point in the task has been Content 3
misinterpreted, as the candidate has not told Jan where to collect the
Organisation 2
laptop, but instead has offered to deliver it. The other two content
Language 3
points are addressed successfully. The text is connected using a
limited number of basic linking words (but, because). The message Total 8
uses basic vocabulary reasonably appropriately (new/old laptop,
address, money) and simple grammatical forms with some control (You
are welcome, I want, can I take). However, some errors (I will pring you,
I need to much) may impede communication.
