The first officers of the Homemakers’ Class, which was
started by Mrs. Tullie Balderson as teacher, were Mr. and
Mrs. Francis G. Leake and Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Cherrix.
In May, 1950, the Church voted to construct an addition
to the church building for Sunday School rooms and social
hall. The building was dedicated in June, 1951.
A new baptistry and pulpit furniture were dedicated
September 25, 1960. One of the chairs was given by Mr. and
Mrs. Fred E. Cherrix, and another chair and pulpit Bible
were given by Mr. and Mrs. Eldred S. Gibbons.
In November 1964, aluminum siding was installed on the
church building at a cost of $3,240.
The first Sunday in May, 1965, the Christian Adult
class had its first annual celebration of Christian Family
Day.
1967-1977
In 1967, about 150 delegates and members of the Capital
Area Christian Women’s Fellowship met at our church. What a
luncheon!!!
Nellie and Eldred Gibbons, in 1971, gave to the Church
a refrigerator for use in the social hall.
The Corda V. Funk Religious Education Fund was started
in 1971. This money, which is in an interest-bearing
account, is to be used for the education of young people
from our church who decide to prepare for religious
vocations. It now amounts to $4,125.64.
Air-conditioning units were installed in the church
building in 1972.
