and N. Ralph Tieman, were at her bedside at her home in

Fox Pointe, Cheswold, Del.

Mrs. Blades was born in Wilmington, Del. on Nov. 11, 1915

to Charles W. and Mary A. (Derrickson) Shannon. She

lived in Smyrna, Del. until retiring to Fenwick Island,

Swan Keys, Del. In her later years, she returned to Kent

County to be closer to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson S.

Tieman and her later spouse, M. Paul Blades.

Mildred’s brother, Charles Ralph Shannon; her sister,
Frances Shannon McNeal; a niece, Mary A. Shannon, and

her beloved daughter-in-law, Linda Tieman, also preceded

her in death.

Mildred is survived by her son and daughter; a brother,

Donald D. Shannon and his wife Jeannette; grandsons

Roger L. Tieman, Wm. Barry Larkin and his wife Sandra,

and David Scott Larkin and his wife, Victoria;

granddaughters Carla A. Schwarz and her husband

Douglas, Donna E. Brennan, Melissa D. Stansell and her

husband Tom, and Erin M. Tieman. In addition, she is

survived by 10 great-grandchildren and four step great-

grandchildren and their families, six great-great-

grandchildren, three nieces, and four nephews.

Mrs. Blades was Director of Social Services for the

Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronic Ill for 21
years before retiring. She was then employed by the
