Isaac and Mary Jane were instrumental in
establishing Snow Hill Christian Church, Bay Street,
Snow Hill, Worcester, Maryland. The current structure
was erected in 1897. It has a mid- 20th century
addition. The church still conducts services on a
weekly basis.
Quoting from Lloyd Pusey’s 1996 book, he stated
that his Pusey ancestors often mentioned “ Jake,
George, Than, Willard, Elmer and the Old Man”. The
descendants of Isaac Wooten/ Wootten/ Wooden
Pusey have been celebrating their heritage through
the Pusey Reunion for 50 years (since 1946). They
have been recognized by the State of Maryland for
the wonderful event that takes place each year in
August at the Pocomoke River State Park. Although
the event is primarily for the descendants of Isaac
Wooten/ Wootten/ Wooden Pusey, all are welcome
and treated as family. The annual event closes each
year with singing “Blest Be the Tie That Binds”.
