Lulu’s Corner
Featuring Stories Of The Heart From Rescue Organizations Supported By Lulu’s Fund
A TRIBUTE TO LULU BELLE DAY
Lulu Belle Day was born on April 5, 2004 and joined our family approximately 8 weeks later.
Weighing in at a whopping 1.5 pounds, what she lacked in size she made up for in every other way.
Our lives were forever changed and she quickly became the center of our universe, and we would
have had it no other way.
She took her first plane ride at 8 weeks old. She traveled the country and dipped her paws in both
the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. She called Arizona, Wyoming, and California home and she lived a
big, full life knowing only love and adoration.
Lulu was not a rescue dog but she led us to the rescue community. Because of our love and
commitment to this little pug, Lulu’s Fund was created. Working with a large network of rescue
organizations, her fund has helped hundreds of dogs and other animals find their furever homes, and
has saved perhaps thousands of lives through spay/neuter efforts.
Lulu underwent surgery on May 14, 2019 for two mast cell tumors. She fought hard right up until the
very end, but we were never able to get her breathing under control post operatively. On June 28 th
the very difficult decision was made, and our sweet girl made her way to the Rainbow Bridge. We
are deeply grateful for the 15 years of great joy, happiness, and abundant love we shared with our
coconut, who will forever be known as “our puppy”.
As Carrie Singer with Animal Guardian Network said shortly after Lulu’s passing, “The puppy’s light
was shining brightly yesterday when I took in the worst burro neglect case yet. The puppy’s light
shined yesterday when a little old pup found so much joy when he got to take a trip down to the river
and fill his nose full of new smells and the restoration of his soul. The puppy’s light shined yesterday
when a pup found the joy of wind on his face as he journeyed on a Pup Ride. The puppy’s light is so
strong.”
