she didn’t want to put her to sleep, and she doesn’t know, if she can keep her, but nobody will take her with broken leg, and she doesn’t want to put her into shelter. So I offered to give her some homeopathic remedies. she will take kitten home, give her remedies and after two weeks we will see, what can be done.
Remedies: I gave kitten Symphytum C30 every morning for the next 14 days, to promote healing of the bone and Calcium phosphoricum C30, every evening, for the next 14 day to give the bone some nutrients.
Follow up: After 2 weeks a normal kitten came back; she had just started to use her right front leg carefully. You could feel a little bit of callus forming on the humerus, but everything was fine. And the woman decided to keep her,
Chronics
1.) Female dog, Grace, Spanish galgo, date of birth: February 2017
Date of case taking: 17.1.2018
Not spayed, vaccinated once for rabies and two times for infectious diseases. Treated with Simparica (ticks, fleas, demodex...) several times in last few months. Her history is known only from 6 weeks ago.
Problem: Leishmaniasis and demodicosis, she has no hair on her back and back legs. Skin is very itchy and red, with a lot of dandruff.
Short summary of the case with bold and underlined important points:
The owner is an animal loving person, who is in charge of the Slovenian organisation that is in charge of adoptions of abandoned Spanish Galgos.
Her first Spanish Galgo passed away recently and she was still very sad, even depressed because of it. 6 weeks ago she
was in Spain, organizing another transport of dogs to Slovenia and one night she was returning from shelter to her apartment when a young Galgo female ran to her and allowed her to be petted, which she found very unusual, since they are very shy. She felt like her late dog, Nuska, sent her guardian angel, so she took her home and to the veterinary clinic the next day to get her micro-chipped, vaccinated and tested for leishmaniasis before taking her to Slovenia. At that point Grace looked completely healthy. Her leishmaniasis titer came
back 1:1240 and few days after
vaccination skin problems
broke out. She started
scratching, her hair fell out, she
was positive to demodicosis.
They started treatment with
Simparica, Alupurinol and
Glucatim. Then she came to
Slovenia, where her owner
contacted me. At the time of case
taking they had been together little more than 1 month and her hair just started to grow back a little with all the treatment she was getting, but the skin was still red and a bit itchy. We didn’t titre test
before starting homeopathic treatment, because she was on had been on regular medicines only for 1 month at that point and there were no changes to be expected that soon.
Patients with leshmaniasis usually have life long allopathic treatment.
The owner could tell that Grace is very self-conscious dog. She is not afraid of anybody or anything, except small, enclosed spaces; she doesn’t have a problem with any of
her 15 other dogs. She is very bossy, curious, independent and dominant. She loves life; she could sleep 20 hours a day without going to pee and she doesn’t want to be disturbed when sleeping, She eats everything, likes people and warmth and she has incredibly strong hunting instinct.
