and sister have mental health issues, a brother-in-law is chronically ill, and the owner has vision and other health problems. The owner is a retired nurse, so she is expected to care for all the sick people, as well as herself.
Fletch came for a recheck April 2020. His T4 is low at 1.34 (post-pill normal 2.5 – 6), so we increased his levothyroxine dose to 0.15 mg BID. He has a negative skin scrape, and his physical is the same as in August 2019. However, his owner is wary of resuming homeopathic treatment due to the previous aggravations. She decides to continue with topical treatment, acupuncture, essential oils, medicated baths, and supplements. His thyroid hormone levels are now in the appropriate level, so that obstacle to cure is resolved.
In Jan 2021, the owner wants to resume homeopathic
treatment, so I received Fletch’s case again, with my second repertorisation pasted below.
The only change is that Fletch has learned to hide to scratch, and he seems to improve with essential oils (Animal EO YeastyBeast RTU).
I resume treatment with Sulphur LM 1 by olfaction from 20-27 Jan. V thinks he may have slept better, though she is unsure, so we resume again 4 Feb. He seems less itchy 4/5 Feb, then he is up all night itching on 6 Feb. We wait until he returns to his to pre-Sulphur state, then give a split dose of Morgan Pure 30 C on 18 Feb. Fletch has a big stool and urine accident in the house, and his attitude seems ‘flat’. We decide to wait until after the case conference on 26 February to make any further prescriptions.
Case Conference Ideas
I presented the case as above, and noted that my impression of this dog was as a mineral. Fletch seemed inert to me, he acted much older than his years.
• Edward’s group suggested Ant-crud because of the thick
skin and worse from bathing.
• Ann’s group noted the possible start around time of the
Rabies vaccine, as well as the methodical, structured nature. Rhus-tox, though a plant, has the modalities of better covered and worse getting wet.
• Jane’s group found autistic aspects to the case, wanting his food a certain way, and only urinating on certain substrates.
• Ann commented that people on the autistic spectrum may relate better to people with mental problems, which is similar to the way Fletch was tolerant of V’s sister when suicidal.
• Nancy and Lise’s group suggested herbal support for the liver and thyroid, as the dog had received so many drugs. Herbal support may help clarify the case. Chelidonium, milk thistle, and Buplerum as well as a combination of Calendula – Arctium – Echinacea – Gallium – Urtica were suggested. Probiotics and dietary support were also discussed. This group suggested Nat- mur because Fletch is a closed mineral type dog with a home situation of grief and tension. They considered Graphites with the thickened skin signs and mental signs. There was also a suggestion that the owner may be wanting the interaction with a homeopath to help her feel better since she has so many challenges.
• Ingrid, Wendy, Ilse and Judith’s group noted that Fletch showed an SRP of mineral fastidiousness in eating and in urinating. They suggested Ars-alb as he was better company, likes the sun, worse in summer. If he didn’t seem so mineral, Sepia would fit into the worsening after castration. Sanicula and Skookum Chuck were discussed on a symptomatic level for skin signs.
