The British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons (BAHVS) was formed in 1981, to advance the understanding, knowledge and practice of homeopathy. It aims to stimulate professional awareness of homeopathy and to encourage and to provide for the training of
veterinary surgeons in the practice of homeopathy.
It is an open forum for differing approaches to the subject of veterinary homeopathy and it’s application, allowing for constructive interchanges of ideas.

President, BAHVS
I hope everyone has managed to have some time off to enjoy the summer – such as it was here in the UK ! Here’s hoping we’re treated to an Indian summer, we certainly need and deserve it. It’s been a busy time for me with the RFVS Conference in Aberystwyth and the Dog Risk Seminar in Helsinki as well as covering colleagues’ holidays but I’ve enjoyed plenty of time outside with the goats and the dogs thankfully.
Have you registered for the 100th Faculty of Homeopathy Congress in Edinburgh yet? I’m very much looking forward to the event, in particular to catching up with BAHVS members, colleagues and friends. It’s not too late to register, if you haven’t managed to yet.
The focus of the event is Homeopathy: Integrative Medicine for a Sustainable Future. I think we can all agree that this is a really valuable topic to learn about as we face the challenges of climate change and the difficulties faced by the veterinary profession at this time. We know that there is great demand from pet, horse and livestock care givers for an integrated approach to health care, yet we also know of the resistance they meet when requesting advice on nutrition, let alone complementary medicine modalities. Perhaps sustainability will be a key to open more minds to new ideas.
The Congress is always an inspirational event, a chance to meet with friends and colleagues (you will recognise a number of faces amongst this year’s speakers) and also to expand your thinking yet further by listening to leading homoeopaths from all around the world.
