SELECTED MATERIA MEDICA FOR INJURY
Certain homeopathic medicines have a predilection for particular body locations, or a tissue affinity. Others are more active in specific conditions, have peculiar modalities, or keynote characteristic (high grade symptoms). One must study the details in the provings of the medicines to elucidate these finer points.
Aconitum – Sudden, excessive pain response, especially after surgery, with fear. Injuries to the cornea, inflammation from wounds, extreme sudden fear (cat attacks on birds, rabbits, other prey); note: rabbits are the poster child for the state of fear in Aconite. Follow eye injuries with Euphrasia tincture diluted in a saline eyewash or use in potency orally. Sudden onset of symptoms, with inflammation, fevers that come and go rapidly.
Arnica montana – Injuries or post-operative pain in soft tissues, especially when black and blue, bruised, with hemorrhage into the tissues. A sore appearance and sensation in parts, or the whole body. The acute first stage of any injury, with shock-like decline after the injury, concussion of the brain. Complaints after blows, pain in most instances, fears or avoids touch and worse approach.
Belladonna – Active inflammation and congestion, excitement, exaggerated special senses, affinity for the vascular system, skin. Hot, red, flushed, swollen, shiny skin, with dilated pupils, hyperaesthetic, throbbing pulse, convulsions, delirium, sudden fevers with external heat. Violence and suddenness of attack. Worse for heat. Thirstless, no anxiety or fear. Heatstroke. Nervous excitement, anger, rage, bites, desire to kill, hallucinations and desire to escape. Rabies miasm.
Bryonia – Affinity for serous and synovial membranes, abdominal, pleura, and joints. Stitching, tearing pains
