Parvovirosis –
The owners phoned me as an emergency for a 10 weeks old male Rottweiler puppy. He is about 6,5 kg and according to the breed a strong boned and heavy dog for his age. Normally he is quite active but for the moment does hardly move.
Only 4 days ago he came from the breeder seemingly well but already next day he was quieter than expected. 2 days ago he stopped eating and was hardly drinking.
Today the owners came in the clinic because he had bloody diarrhoea, watery, dark brown, with the typical rotten smell of parvovirosis. Snap Test Henry Schein, Faeces Parvo showed a clearly positive result!
• Temperature 39,5°C.
• Has eaten nothing for 2 days, inactive, does not play or run around, can hardly stand on his feat.
• Enjoys petting which he normally does not like so much.
• He has hundreds of fleas, many of them we combed out and gave Capstar 11mg 1 Tablet (Capstar is a drug that is non toxic for puppies or lactating or pregnant bitches)
A repertorisation was made using the symptoms of the parvo patient:
