Be careful not to take 3 rubrics for the theme of desire to have company or being petted (magnetised) without putting them in a group, because for this reason Phos comes up so high in our repertorisation but Phos has bright red bloody not this dark brown red watery diarrhoea of parvo.
In his case. which is your first choice? Use his individual symptoms for the decision.
What is the most peculiar symptom in his case (§153)? The need to be caressed, hugged, petted in an animal, which when is healthy is not a cuddly dog.
This symptom tells about the need to be near the owner? Maybe fear of being alone?
It is not really mind mildness or desire magnetised ... it is wanting help.
A child that is afraid, what does it want you to do: take it in your arms and lift it up, which is best expressed for me as: mind, desire to be carried. We can find this rubric in the repertory. I like it very much.
David Zorko, one of the Slovenian students sent me a wonderful cartoon regarding exactly this symptom and exactly this specific Key symptom was the reason, why I was very sure in this case of Arsenicum album.
Arsenicum is not an animal that wants to be petted or kissed. Only when he is ill, then he needs to be pampered and is sulking and looking for company. It is not right for me to give Phos to a dog, who normally does not want to be petted and is a very strong built and energetic but not overactive dog.
Treatment: Arsenicum album 1M and Parvo nosode C200 (both 3 times a day 3 globules) and i.v. Ringer’s Lactate + Glucose.
Follow-up: 5 hours later 38,8°C, still dark brown diarrhoea but less frequent and less liquid, tired, seeks contact, wants to be petted, urine yellow-orange.
Follow-up 2 days: he is walking around in the garden, back to 70% of normal energy, i.v. drip stopped, still a bit of diarrhoea but not bloody, no vomiting , eats 60% of normal quantity.
Follow-up 3 days: like day 2: Calcium carbonicum M as an additional constitutional remedy only one dose 3 globules and parvo nosode C200 once a day.
Follow-up 4 days: he is perfect, back home, eats everything he sees.
Follow-up 3 weeks: totally fine.
Parvovirosis –
endemic remedies and the nosode
Parvovirosis is an endemic and common puppy disease in Spain. As it is very contagious it spreads around easily within especially campo dogs, which have not sufficient hygiene and care. The worst cases are combined with an infestation with high numbers of ticks and flee. These puppies die mostly within 3 days if therapy is not started immediately after the onset of diarrhoea.
