(statistically high chance if underlying cancer in these cases).
WHAT CHANGED?
They had another cat called Elle which died around the time the symptoms started one year ago. Patrick saw her after she died - he would not go in this bedroom for months after, until his people asked him to sleep on the bed in this room - and he did.
They wondered if he wanted a friend – he used to stretch his arm out to touch Elle but she hated him. He used to follow her around all the time.
He used to sleep on the bed and spend more time inside when she was alive. Since she is gone, he is more an outside cat and doesn’t want to sleep on the bed.
CASE TAKING
He was originally from a pet shop. His guardians took him over from a couple who separated – they fought a lot.
Lovable, fun, happy and loopy. A cuddle cat – stroking,
being picked up and brushed, just say ‘brush’ and he
will come running – listens and follows instructions. He talks/chats and responds to his people – gives each
person time and attention.
He spends more time around the owner when she is
unwell
Runs like a herd of elephants to welcome his people
home.
He is the boss of them.
Scared of fireworks and thunder – slinks, runs and hides
away.
He can be persistent – they try to keep him out of the
pottery shed but he is determined and naughty.
If he is told off his ears go back, but his reaction is “stuff
you” and he won’t run away.
Music often calms him (first owners were musicians) –
still recognises previous owner and will crawl over
him.
New people he doesn’t run away – happy to be stroked
and picked up and the owner fears he will jump into
their cars and be driven away.
Will seek people out unless they approach in a noisy
way, and he will slink off.
Follows his people on walks.
Not interested in toys but likes hunting - rabbits, lots of
rabbits which he eats.
Loves warmth but not afraid of cold and doesn’t mind
getting wet.
If I fuss him too much he will get annoyed and bite – but
not to harm

REMEDY CHOICES
I looked closely at the remedies Phos acid, Nat mur, Phosphorus, and Ferrum Phos, but with the sensitivity to thunder and the tendency to be overly friendly with strangers, talkative, open and sociable, I chose Phosphorus.
Interestingly eating dirt was often a sign of phosphorus deficiency in cattle even though Phos is not present in
