The male mixed breed dog Jackson has a bad story to report. He lived together for many years with a mostly drunk owner, who cared for the dog as well as he could. In the end the dog, who had not been seen by a vet many times in his life, was found at the side of his owner, who had died about 6 days before unnoticed in his flat. The dog had started eating the dead man, as he had not had food or water for an unknown time period. He seemed to be sad and emotionally very irritable (see photos over page).
The flat was full of pigeons, bird food and tons of garbage. He was very skinny but otherwise showed no signs of illness.
He was rescued, brought to a vet and received an antiparasitic treatment and his long overdue rabies vaccination had been renewed immediately after he has been found.
After some days a lady who wanted to give him a chance of a good life took him on. After some weeks he suddenly started getting problems in walking and a few days later he could not stand up anymore and fell immediately when being lifted up. As he had always been under control, nothing accidental could have happened to him. He never showed any sign of pain. This situation remained the same for 3 month despite various therapies. In the beginning he was crawling and dragging his hind legs, later he did only manage to move backwards and he did that
