LMHI World Homeopathic Congress, Seville, October 2024 • Treasurer’s report – Mirjam Blatnik
I attended the meeting of the International Committee of the LHMI on 1 October 2024 in Seville. As treasurer of the IAVH I was mostly interested in their financial work, issues and problem solving. So after listening to the financial report, the balance report and budgets I also had a talk with Monika Kölsch, treasurer of LHMI.
We exchanged thoughts, ideas and problems that we encounter in our associations. Basically we have the same troubles. After having a conversation with her, I have learned a lot. One of the solutions they have agreed on (and as it turns out we did the same) was moving the office to the country where the expenses are less costly, Turkey, even though their headquarters are in Germany.
On 2 October 2024 I attended pre-congress seminars and I joined the Meeting of the Working group on Education, hosted by Dr. Claudia Garn, secretary of homeopathic education LHMI, from Austria. They (LHMI) have an established education accreditation process; they offer basic level education but are thinking about upgrading to at least one higher level of education if not two. They would offer basic, advanced and master levels of homeopathic education.
Basic level includes 350 hours of teaching. The goal is also to collaborate with ECH and provide education with more hours of teaching and be on the same level as ECH education.
They would like to get more students and in that direction a solution would be accreditation of more teaching programs that would offer basic knowledge, in order for more people to get access and be able to participate in
different places all over the world. After the basic education, homeopaths wanting more knowledge could enter a higher level of education.
At the moment their accreditation covers same level of knowledge in either individual teaching centres (min of 15 people) or national associations providing teaching. The accreditation is payable and lasts a certain number of years. The teaching centre gets the right to advertise itself as an LHMI accredited teaching centre and uses the LHMI logo on their diplomas. When the association or teaching centre does not pay membership for the particular year, they lose the accreditation.
Even though IAVH is a smaller association I came to the conclusion that we deal with very similar problems, we all try to solve them in a similar way and our goals for the future go in the same direction. Which I believe is good and we will be able to work together.
