2 THE SOJOURNER
NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings Brothers and fellow Sojourners,
We are closing in on one third of our 2025-2026 Sojourner year, and I and my
Lady Shirley have participated in some great programs. In July we traveled to
Founding Forward in Valley Forge, PA for the session which featured several
Sojourner sponsored students. It was a very busy, but rewarding few days. Students
listened to several different presentations, as well as participating in small group
activities that required them making a presentation to a panel of judges. Several
students were members of various JROTC programs in their respective schools and
one morning they raised the “Colors” in grand fashion.
Also on the grounds of Founding Forward is a Medal of Honor park. It contains monuments for all 50
states, Puerto Rico and an independent one. Each state has markers representing Medal of Honor recipients
from that particular state and honors all Medal of Honor awardees from the Civil War to current conflicts.
Our next adventure was to FACE in the DC area. All five of your National Line officers were present.
Wreath laying’s took place at George Washington’s crypt, the Tomb of the Unknown Revolutionary Soldier
and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington. The National Commander, Peter Cauchon and I had the
honor of laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. My Lady, Shirley, also accompanied us.
The conference and encampment was held at the George Washington Masonic Memorial and resulted in
two new Heroes of 76. Special thanks to all that helped us and participated in the Conference and
Encampment.
As you read this, the ribbon cutting of the relocated Headquarters has taken place (4 October 2025). Your
National Commander and I will have attended.
Plans are in the works to hold the Midwinter Conference near the Headquarters in Chantilly, VA. It will be
similar to the one we held in January of 2025 with participation from all Committees. More detailed
information will be forth coming.
Communication has indicated that there may be at least one new Chapter forming and one new Club may
be in the works. We will keep you updated.
I am encouraging you to post your area Conference and Encampment time and place on the website so
your Officers and other interested members can attend. Also, keep actively recruiting new members to keep
our order strong.
I wish to congratulate Denver-Fitzimmons Chapter #37 on them having achieved 100 years of consecutive
service from their charter date of 11 September 1925.
I look forward to seeing some of you along the way, as I plan on doing some more traveling. Wishing all
of you the best and my phone and email are always available.
Freemasonry First, Sojourners Always!
Fraternally,
Dave Mahoney
National President
