4 THE SOJOURNER
NATIONAL SECRETARY’S DESK
We want to encourage all Chapters to attend the upcoming Mid-Winter Meeting
(MWM) in January. Details and registration links are located on our website in the
members area. It is a great way to learn more about National SojournersÒ, partake
in fun and fellowship, and hear from our leadership and committees on events and
accomplishments for the first half of the Sojourner year. The Relocation Committee
should be reporting at the MWM where they will recommend the National Office
(HQ) to relocate in the next 5-6 months. Our rental contract at our current location
in Springfield, Virginia expires 30 June 2025.
Now that Secretaries have 24 x 7 access to online electronic file storage (eFileCabinets) for their Chapter
records, it is expected and logical for Secretaries or Asst Secretaries to be utilizing this feature to store their
Chapter’s records. This should include archived or older paper records as well. It would benefit the Chapters
to have all their records digitized for easy access, convenience of storage, and for future reference and
research for publishing the history of the Chapter or Camp. This could be accomplished as a team building
exercise, a Chapter “bonding” project, or by a few dedicated Chapter or Camp officers.
A reminder – if you cannot find resources or information you need or want on our website take some time to
contact our webmaster at webmaster@nationalsojourners.org or me at hq@nationalsojourners.org and explain
clearly what content you would like to see on the website. We will in turn work with the appropriate
committee to improve your experience with the specific content of that webpage.
All Chapters should have received their FALL MAILING last month from HQ. In that bright red envelope
packet included information, dues notices, and dues cards for the annual dues paying members. Secretaries
must report delinquent members to HQ before midnight 31 December. Annual Members are asked to pay
their Chapter dues immediately upon receipt of the notice from the Chapter Secretary. Life Members are
encouraged to join the 3-6-5 SEM Club.
The Semi-Annual National Reports are due 15 December so that we have time to format and process them
for the MWM. 1 November is the deadline for HQ to receive any Resolution submissions – make sure you
use the proper submission form found on the website in the members area under FORMS. I look forward to
seeing everyone at the MWM in Charleston, South Carolina in January!
