Dolly Parton
It was a delightful evening when in March of 1993, the very popular Dolly Parton
performed on the Stanley Theater Stage. Dolly Rebecca Parton, one of twelve children,
was born in Sevier County Tennessee. Although she performed as a child, her true
musical career began in the 1960s with her first album ‘Hello, I’m Dolly’, and she kept it
going full speed. Dolly has had 25 of her songs reach #1 on Billboard Country Music
Charts. In 1999, she was inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Her career
ventured into movies at which she was equally successful with perhaps the most noted
being ‘9 to 5’ and ‘Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’. Her musical and acting awards are
numerous with Academy Awards, Grammy, and other nominations. And she prides
herself in being a successful businessperson with the Dollywood Company, a theme
park in Tennessee. There is much more than this brief space can accommodate.
