FROM THE CHIEF OF THE CORPS
Finance and Comptroller Teammates,
It has been just over a year since I took the helm as the 43rd Commandant of the
Finance and Comptroller School and Chief of the Finance Corps. I’m incredibly
proud of the outstanding work, professionalism, and commitment of the entire
staff and our community.
Our Army Senior Leaders (ASLs) have given us multiple opportunities to
contribute to the Army Transformation Initiative (ATI). This initiative aims to
create a more efficient and effective force by modernizing operations, eliminating
redundancies, restructuring our force, and prioritizing new capabilities.
COL LE’IATO
As the Army continues to cut costs by reducing or eliminating funding for outdated programs and
non- essential spending, the Finance and Comptroller School (FCS) has worked closely with key
stakeholders to align our efforts with the ATI. We are focusing on leveraging technology and
modernizing our capabilities to better support financial management operations now and into the
future. Some of our initiatives include:
• Modernizing training platforms: FCS continues collaboration with the United States Army
Financial Management Command (USAFMCOM) in exploring alternative solutions for the
Financial Management Training Platform (FMTP).
• Upgrading network systems: We replaced the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) with the
Sustainment Transport System (STS), a more modern network suite.
• Revising force structure: We are re-examining the force structure of SRC14 COMP2 and
COMP3 units and developing COAs to bridge gaps identified during the FC TTX.
In line with our ASLs’ focus on data-centric organizations, FCS has secured a Data Analytics (DA)
Training with Industry (TWI) officer slot with Deloitte. FCS is also working to convert an NCO
banking TWI slot to a DA slot. The goal is for these individuals to serve as instructors and
developers at FCS after their training. Moreover, FCS continues to leverage ASA(FM&C) and
CASCOM data analytics subject matter experts to assist with development and sustainment of data
literacy training.
To improve our training readiness, FCS is developing Warfighter Training Support Packages
(WSTPs) for our FC formations. These WSTPs are aligned with our Mission Essential Tasks,
Collective Tasks, and Lessons Plans, and will help our formations to develop, execute, and
evaluate training in support of financial management operations worldwide. Our training
developers are also undergoing CAMO GPT training; this is an AI machine learning platform that
will help them to effectively and expeditiously develop training for our Soldiers, NCOs, and Officers
attending Professional Military Education and Initial Military Training courses at Fort Jackson.
Finally, a huge thank you to the Finance Corps Association for your selfless support to the entire
enterprise. Let’s continue to strive for excellence and success for our financial management
community.
To Support and Serve,
1
