Introduction
1. Buddha Puja
Phra Shakyavongsvisuddhi (Anil Sakya), Rector of the World Buddhist University, was
invited for chanting.
2. Chairman’s Statement
Mr. Phallop Thaiarry, Vice-President and Secretary-General, informed the Meeting that
H.E. Phan Wannamethee, President of The WFB, was recommended by the doctor not to
take a long journey during this time, hence, he could not attend the meeting. However,
the President had extended his sincere appreciation to Most Rev. Shinzan Egawa, President
of Japan Buddhist Federation (JBF), its executives and members of organizing committee
for hosting the 29 WFB General Conference. In this regard, President of The WFB has

sent the official letter to Rev. Masamichi Shodo Kobayashi with request and assignment
to Rev. Kobayashi to chair the Meeting on his behalf with the assistance of Mr. Phallop
Thaiarry, Vice-President and Secretary-General. Then, he invited Rev. Masamichi Shodo
Kobayashi, the Chairman of the Meeting, to read the Message from the President.
The Chairman read the Message from H.E. Phan Wannamethee, which he expressed his
heartfelt gratitude to all participants from diversities of cultures, traditions, denominations
and ethnics who gathered with open minds to share their concerns on future of humankind
under the theme ‘Compassion in Action: Creating Hope and Life in Death’. It’s important
to develop wisdom, understanding the suffering; otherwise the person, who offers to help,
will easily become overwhelmed by sufferings. We need to discover whether or not our
actions are going to be of real help.
The Chairman then requested the Secretary-General to proceed with the meeting. The
Secretary-General advised that according to the Article 14 of The WFB Constitution, from
now onwards it was decided that the WFBY President and the WBU Rector will sit in at
the General Council Meeting to share their views and provide a report on their respective
activities in order to perform activity in the same direction for the best of Buddhism.
3. Adoption of the Agenda
The Secretary-General asked the floor to consider the Agenda Items 1-10.
The Meeting adopted the Agenda.
