Making Businesses Better
Delivering Optimal Value Through Strategic Transf
From its inception as the North American Business Center (NABS) in the early 2000s to this day, the vision for CCS (CRH Central Services) has been to be the leader in shared services excellence and make it easier for our employees, customers and vendors to do business with CRH.
With business needs evolving and technologies changing, over the last couple of years the CCS and Finance teams have embarked on a journey to significantly modernize the Finance and Shared Services functions at CRH Canada by updating our technologies, strengthening our core processes and
 Consistently Reporting
our Financial Results on Day 1
To strengthen our integration with AMAT, it is essential that we align with AMAT reporting schedules and provide timely financial information to our management. CCS, Controllers and Operations teams
collaborated well since the beginning of 2020 to
significantly improve processes around closing our financial books and reporting by 6 pm on Day 1.
This has allowed management to be able to prepare better forecasts, analyse financial results on a timely basis and present these in a meaningful way to senior management at AMAT and CRH.
  Finalize CRH Canada
Integration into AMAT
Reporting Systems
To be able to make sound decisions, having live data that you can compare across the business is key. Since 2015, Canada had to manually provide the numbers, as well as consolidate and convert unit of measure and currency to align with the AMAT reporting system Hyperion, a tool used to look at all companies’ performance across AMAT at a glance.
A critical project has been put in place in 2019 aiming at integrating all financial reporting data (monthly results, budgets and forecasts) for CRH Canada Materials and Construction business
units into Hyperion. Completed this year despite the disruption related to COVID-19,
this allows us to be aligned with AMAT, as well as improving consistency and comparability.
In addition, the monthly reporting time has been reduced and manual work of replicating reporting templates and books has been eliminated, which allows the teams to dedicate more time to analysis. Congratulations to all involved for this tremendous achievement!
Leverage Best-in-Class Technologies for Payroll and Benefits
Over the last few years, our current payroll platform has become high maintenance and obsolete. It has increasingly represented a risk to our business and our company, and has been identified as an area for improvement. A broad cross-functional team of employees from Finance, HR, IT, CCS and the business, has recently been assembled to work on a project to enhance our payroll platform, as well as some administrative tasks related to the management of our benefits.
Our core processes which are our foundations remain the same; however, this change, which is planned to be effective in 2021, will allow us to leverage best-in-class technologies and processes from experts in the field, while we continue to focus on making it easier for the business and our employees and creating value.
