Exploring Information Texts
YEAR 2 WHALE

This half term, Year 2 Whale
explored a new literacy
sequence on Information Texts.
To launch the unit, the pupils
took part in an exciting Show
and Tell activity, where each
child brought in a stuffed or
plastic animal toy and shared

what they liked most about
their chosen animal.

The activity provided a
wonderful opportunity for
the children to develop their
speaking and listening skills
while also building their
background knowledge and
curiosity about information
writing. The classroom buzzed
with enthusiasm as pupils

spoke confidently, listened
attentively, and celebrated one
another’s contributions. It was
a warm and engaging start to
their journey into information
texts!
