This past week, our Key Stage 1 pupils truly brought their learning to life. On
Friday, our Year 1 children celebrated their focus text, “We’re Going to Find the

Monster” by Malorie Blackman and Dapo Adeola, with a thrilling dress-up day.
Dressed as characters from the story, they embarked on a lively and imaginative
‘Monster Hunt’ across the school. Their energy and excitement reminded us just
how powerful stories can be in sparking joy and deep engagement. We’re especially

thankful to our brave Year 1s for saving us all from the monster!

Meanwhile, Year 2 children have been diving into the wonderful world of Jill Mur-
phy. They’ve explored a range of her much-loved books, including The Worst
Witch, Peace at Last, On the Way Home, and Whatever Next!. On Monday, the
corridor came alive with book characters, as pupils arrived dressed in costume, At Abuja Prep, we know that when children connect emotionally and creatively
ready to explore the stories in greater depth. The day was filled with reading, sto- with literature, they become more thoughtful readers and more capable writers. By

rytelling, and creative activities that brought Jill Murphy’s books off the page and giving our pupils the chance to step into stories—literally and figuratively—we are
into the hearts of our children. laying the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and writing.
