Trip to The Central
Bank of Nigeria
TRIP TO THE CENTRAL BANK OF
NIGERIA CBN
n the 10th and 11th of March, we, went on a very exciting enrichment trip to
the Currency Museum at the Central Bank of Nigeria. It was such a fun and
Ointeresting experience!
We learnt all about how people used to trade in the past, from the days
of trade by barter to the money we use today. It was amazing to see
the different types of currency that have been used in Nigeria over time.
One of the most fascinating parts of the trip was visiting the currency mutilation
units. That’s where old, fake, or damaged notes are shredded and destroyed.
We were surprised to find out that the shredded notes, called briquettes,
are used to make things like tables and chairs. It was really cool to see how
something old and unusable could be turned into something new and useful!
We would like to say a very big thank you to Dr Mohammad Sani Abdullahi, Deputy
Governor, Economic Policy Directorate at the Central Bank of Nigeria, for making this
trip possible. We’re also really grateful to our teachers for taking us and helping us learn
in such a fun way.
It was a truly beautiful experience, and one we’ll never forget!
