Island Night

he first weekend after half term brought a
burst of island energy as Elkanemi House
T hosted this term’s Boarding Theme Night,
transforming the Pavilion into a slice of Barbados.
From bright colours to lively Caribbean rhythms
and flavourful dishes, the space felt warm and
inviting, with students creating an atmosphere
that carried us far from Abuja for an evening.

What stood out most was the intention behind it all:
students planning, preparing, and pulling the
night together with pride. It was less about
pretending to be somewhere else, and more
about building something meaningful right here,
together.

Bright colours, palm leaves, and island-style outfits
brought Barbados to life. Calypso music filled the
space, skirts swayed, and laughter travelled across
the hall. The food was a hit too; students cleared their
plates and still came back asking for more. Watching
everyone dance, cheer, and enjoy themselves made
every planning moment worth it.
