Last week, the Year 1 Immersion class transformed an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure
with a vibrant reenactment of the story of The Enormous Turnip. What started as a beloved tale from
their reading sessions turned into a delightful live experience, where the children took on the roles of
each character, bringing the story to life with enthusiasm and joy.

The playground buzzed with excitement as the
young learners gathered to enact the story. There
was the determined old man, the patient old wom-
an, the playful mouse, and other characters. The
fresh air fueled their imaginations, turning the en-
tire space into a stage for laughter and teamwork.
The children eagerly pulled, tugged, and acted out
the iconic moment when all the characters worked

harmoniously to uproot the enormous turnip,
highlighting the importance of collaboration and

unity.

The day’s adventure culminated with a special
treat from the story, where the children gath-
ered to enjoy a hearty bowl of “Turnip soup,” a
delightful potato porridge inspired by the story.
Their smiles and laughter filled the air as they
shared this meal, bonding over their adventure
and creating lasting memories.

This unforgettable experience powerfully show-
cased the impact of storytelling, role-play, and
collaboration in learning. It was a triumphant
celebration of imagination, teamwork, and the
pure delights of childhood, leaving a lasting im-
pression!
