The wait

Was Worth It!

here’s a kind of energy that fills the school when the
dance competition approaches. Not loud or forced, but
steady. Students stayed back after classes, rehearsing
T in clusters, ironing out steps, debating music cues.
Some led, others followed. But everyone was part of the build-
up.

Benue House took the top spot this year, securing first place
in both Contemporary and Nigerian dance categories, and
second in Group. Their routines were clean, confident, and well-
practised, the result of persistence more than polish.

Still, the win wasn’t the only thing that mattered. Congo brought
precision, Volta brought energy, and Senegal showed heart. For
many, it was their last performance on that stage. For others, it
was a first.

There was movement, yes. But also memory. The kind that
lingers longer than applause.
