Aisha Kere-Ahmed (Year 11 Congo) reflects on her
experience during the 2025 Sports Day
ports day at the Regent School is always something
to look forward to. The tension. The strenuous races.
SThe energetic cheering. As the Congo house captain,
I knew that whatever the outcome, all that mattered was
that everyone in Congo gave it their best and was happy
doing it.
The day started with students and parents filing into school
dressed in their house colours, Benue, Congo, Senegal, Vol-
ta. Everyone was buzzing with excitement. To start off the
events, we had the march past, which we had spent lots of
time practising, with each house lined up in perfect forma-
tion, stepping in sync with the beat of the drums.
Throughout the rest of the competition, we had exhilarat-
ing events like track races, tug of war, and my favourite, the
shuttle relay. It was a race about strategy, involving over
80 of the fastest runners. I was glad Congo secured a silver
medal.
Sports Day at the Regent School was not just about win-
ning medals, it was about teamwork, perseverance, and the
joy of giving it your all. Watching my Congo house support
each other and celebrate every victory was the best way to
end the event. It didn’t matter that we got 2nd place be-
cause the memories made would stay with me.
