Mrs Patience Uwakwe
Designated Safeguarding Lead Supporting Our Young People
t Regent, safeguarding is not just
about protection from harm — it What is Anxiety?
Ais also about supporting our stu-
dents’ wellbeing and mental health. One
of the most common challenges for Anxiety is a feeling of worry, fear, or unease
young people today is anxiety. that arises when we believe something
bad might happen. It is part of the body’s
natural “alarm system” — the fight, flight,
or freeze response — which helps us react
to threats. In small amounts, anxiety can
even be helpful, motivating us to prepare
for a test or perform well in a game. But
when anxiety is constant, overwhelming, or
stops a child from doing everyday things
like coming to school, spending time with
friends, or concentrating in lessons, it
becomes a problem.
