school dinner, I was ever since looking for-
Oward to it. The theme was “Arabian Night”.
We first had our etiquette training, which was spe-
cifically for new students, so that we could all get
to know how to dine properly.
In our training, we were first taught how to eat soup
from a bowl, using a spoon. One thing I certain-
ly picked up from that section of the training was
that, you take the soup at twelve o’clock, and then
smear it at the top of the plate, then sip the soup;
DO NOT blow on it!
Secondly, we were taught the two different ways
to use a fork and knife; the American style where
you first start off with the two cutlery, then you put
the knife down and then switch the fork to your

YEAR 7 SENEGAL you use both a fork and knife all the time without
switching hands or needing to put one down.
