CHESS CHESS
COMPETITION COMPETITION
CHESS
CHAMPIONS
A story of preparation and Hardwork
Aanya Madhu , Year 9 Volta, On Her Experience
During The Inter-House Chess Competition
VOLTA HOUSE 1ST articipating in this year’s chess competition
was an unforgettable experience. Before
Pthe competition, we prepared for weeks
BENUE HOUSE 2ND and worked hard to improve our game skills and
strategies.
SENEGAL HOUSE 3RD Mr Carl put in extra time to ensure we practised
online and physically. In school alone we prac-
ticed first thing in the morning before registra-
CONGO HOUSE 4TH tion, during the snack and long breaks and after
school.
Mr Carl and every Volta representative taught
various chess openings, puzzles, end games, etc,
and was required to master every tactic and ap-
proach. The competition was intense and inter-
esting; we had to think a lot about every move
before playing and always had to stay focused.
In the end, Volta House won and all our hard
work paid off. This was a proud moment for all of
us, especially for Asaph and myself winning all
our games in the tournament. We will always re-
member it.
