INTER-HOUSE SPEECH COMPETITION
Jaden Ananaba reflects on his experience partici-
pating in the Inter-House Speech Competition
y palms were sweaty, my knees
felt weak, and my heart pounded
M in my chest. But I had one mission:
to win the speech competition for Senegal
House. As they called for the KS4 speakers,
my pulse raced, and I could have fainted
right there on the stage.
Watching the other speakers was exhilarat-
ing. Each one brought their own energy, fire,
and passion. With every passing second,
the weight of the moment pressed down on
me.
As I stepped up to the podium, dread crept
in. What if I forgot a part of my speech?
What if my voice cracked? A thousand little
eyes were locked onto me, waiting to see if I
could match the performance before me.
Then, something shifted. The nervousness
turned into focus. My words flowed. When I
stepped away, the crowd’s ecstatic cheers
told me—I had done it right.
