In our Science class, we explored how air resistance helps parachutes slow down
a falling object. By designing and testing our own parachutes, we observed that

they didn’t drop straight to the ground but instead floated gently downwards.

This happens because as the parachute falls, it pushes against tiny air molecules,
creating a force called air resistance that slows its descent. The larger the para-

chute, the more air resistance it experiences, acting like a built-in brake system.

Through our experiments, we discovered that air resistance plays a crucial role in
controlling how objects fall, from parachutes to leaves and feathers. Next time

you see a parachute in action, remember—it’s not magic, it’s science!
