Among Nepal's hidden treasures is Bhaktapur. The city of
Bhaktapur, formerly known as Bhadgaun, is renowned for its rich
religious, cultural, and architectural history. This city is
considered an open museum with a wealth of historical carvings,
religious beliefs, elegant traditional customs, and artwork.

Bhaktapur lies on the Eastern corner of Kathmandu and is known
locally as Khwopa and the “City of Devotees.” Bhaktapur is a
city that has survived for a long time. The city is said to have
been created as early as the 7th century. Due to its fertile and
cultivable land, it has been the home to many dynasties. This can

be seen when walking around the city's streets and small lanes.
Down each and every alley there is a story to be discovered. The
city's narrow streets are a reminder of a time when technology
                                                      was a far-fetched thing.

The city is frequently visited by both tourists and locals who
adore the city's ancient vibe and its cultural heritage. As you walk
down the street the thing you cannot ignore is the mix of aromas
in the air. Street stalls with varieties of food can be found all
around Bhaktapur; the most famous of which is the “Juju Dahu ''
a type of curd that is rare to find elsewhere. The mix of culture
and food makes Bhaktapur a must visit.

The most famous place in all of Bhaktapur without question is

the Durbar square. The Bhaktapur Durbar square is one of
Nepal’s UNESCO world heritage sites. The Durbar square has
important buildings, left and right, from temples to palaces once
used by kings that ruled over Kathmandu. Even a full day
devoted to exploring around isn't enough to check out all the
places that are classic examples of Newari architecture and the
beautifully carved wooden windows and doors. Walking around
the square makes you feel like you are a part of history and it
enables you to feel like one of the people walking the same street
                                                      hundreds of years ago.

Overall Bhaktapur is one of the best places to visit in Kathmandu
valley and is a city with rich culture and history. The city with its
