New scholarships, grants and
awards launched for students
and developing engineers
Students who are currently on, or
plan to read, an Engineering Council-
accredited degree, are welcome to
apply. The range of scholarships and
grants includes:
• Undergraduate scholarships up to
£9,000
• First year undergraduate
scholarships up to £6,000
• Postgraduate scholarships up to
£6,500
• Grants of up to £1,500 for those in
financial need
The winner of EngTech of the Year
Award will receive a cash prize of
£1,500 to continue their activities in
promoting engineering to young
people.
These scholarships, grants and
awards have been made possible by
the generosity of past IGEM members.
President Sheila Lauchlan said: “A
fifth of the utilities sector’s
500,000-strong UK workforce will
retire in the next ten years and around
90,000 more will move to other
roles, creating 31,000 new jobs. If we
can’t find competent replacements for
these workers, it could have major
implications for the 65 million people
who rely on these critical services
every day.
