CALLING ALL OUTSTANDING ENGTECHS
OUR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
of the Year Award is open for
nominations once again, recognising
our outstanding EngTech members
and the contribution they make to the
gas industry and wider community.
The winner of this award receives an
educational grant of £1,500 to support
their career development, which last
year went to David Tomkin, Technical
Support Manager and Gas Incident
Investigator for Gas Safe Register.
A Fellow of IGEM, David said:
“Winning the award was a wonderful
feeling if not a bit surreal – I don’t think
of myself as something special so to
be recognised for just trying to be the
best engineer I can, with what I’ve been
given, is a truly humbling experience.”
IGEM Professional Development
Officer Ross McCart said: “The
engineering sector faces a huge skills
crisis. If we can’t find competent
replacements for retiring workers and
those who move on to other careers,
it could have major implications for
the millions of people who rely on the
critical services they provide.
“IGEM is on a mission to support
those engineers by inspiring
innovation, entrepreneurship and
personal development, as well as
recognising and rewarding developing
engineers when they need our Am I eligible? or not. Successful applicants will be
