"Momsie" was the pet name I started calling her about 20 years ago and more
recently I added "Mama me!" I called her this when I try to explain away
something I hadn't done right or something our generational difference would
highlight like explaining new features on her phone she didn't understand or
playing music in the car was OK if it wasn't too loud or the car wasn't in traffic.
She would always enjoy a good laugh when I call her these pet names. She
enjoyed the fun "jabs" and threw one or two "jabs" back herself.
Always giving. She was always giving. She gave her time, her resources, she
blessed as many people as she could in any little or big way. There was
something interesting she used to do, when I visit her and t's time to say
goodbye, she will always give me something, it could be snacks, food, clothes. I
never leave her empty handed. If I didn't come alone, the people who came
with me also always get something, some blessing. She had a really big, giving
heart.
My mum was a gentle, humble, generous, kind, hospitable, compassionate,
trustworthy, amiable, friendly, simple, caring and loving person. I will miss her
warm embrace, her words of wisdom, her warmth, her giving spirit, her loving
disciplinary approach to raising me, her thoughtfulness, her love for me.
Mummy, I am who I am today because you loved me so much. You did the work
to set up my foundation and I will be forever grateful to you. Thank you for
being my superhero, an awesome parent and the loving, caring mother that you
were. I love you so much.
Rest in perfect beautiful peace in the bosom of the Lord.
Muyewa Asagba
The first time I met you I was nervous as could be, Unsure if you would like me
but in your very special way you made me part of the family.
You are the other Mother I received, the day I wed your son and I want to thank
you Mom, for the loving things you’ve done. Death leaves a heartache no one
can heal but love leaves a memory no one can steal. You may have left us, but
your memories never will.
Days will pass and turn into years, but we will always remember you with silent
tears.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May your soul rest in peace!
Amen
