Belly Dancing Beginning
The beginning class focuses on basic belly dance moves and learning a routine. Props including finger cymbals and veils will also be introduced. Wear comfortable clothing and either dance shoes or bare feet.

Troupe Practice

International Folk Dance
Join this fun dance class-no partners needed- and get your exercise with traditional dances that have stood the test of time from many countries. Careful instruction, demonstration and practice will soon turn you into a multi-cultural dancer. No class on 11/24.

Level 1: Basic steps and very easy standard line dances taught and practiced with popular teacher, Donna Frankel. This course is designed to introduce new and nearly new line dance students to this fun style of exercise. No partners needed, a variety of music used.

Salsa
Do you wish you could dance like the stars on “Dancing with the stars”? It may be harder than it looks, but the good news is if you can walk in the door you can learn to dance! This quarter we will be concentrating on the smooth, or walking dances, Waltz, Foxtrot and Tango. Come as a couple or alone; efforts will be made to accommodate singles, as all couples will be asked to change partners. Wear non-stick shoes (no sneakers).

Students have the basics, but will learn more advanced step combinations and 8-11 standard line dances, most of which are 32 count before repetition.
Level 3:
The dances taught in this course are more advanced with more complex rhythms, often with syncopation, turns, speed and less repetition in thechoreography. Theteachingisalsoatafaster pace with more difficult combinations and mostly 64 count dances. No class on 11/24.

For the beginning guitarist, an introduction to the fundamentals of music which includes reading music, learning easy songs, and different strumming techniques. Different forms of popular American music such as blues, funk, and rock will also be introduced. Bring a playable guitar and Mel Bay Guitar Method Book by Mel Bay ISBN: 978-087166354-2. to class. Intermediate/ Advance students must take the beginning class to enroll. No classes on 12/19, 12/26 and 1/2.

Erhu Chinese Violin

This class is designed for both the beginning and intermediate Erhu player. You will learn the fundamentals of this ancient Chinese musical instrument. Learn to play traditional and contemporary Chinese music and some American folk songs after you complete the class. If you know the basic musical scale, and know how to relax, you can play the Erhu. The intermediate student will play additional beautiful music by learning more skills such as sliding, vibrato and more. You will need to have an Erhu instrument. No class on 11/24, 12/22, and 12/29.

The intermediate class adds more complicated movements and choreography, and the beginnings of solo performances. Fusion of different styles of belly dance will be explored (cabaret, tribal, gypsy, bollywood, polynesian, etc.).
