Let's Talk Day & Eve
In this course, students will participate in discussions that revolve around the class reading and other events that are happening in the community, in the U.S. and overseas. Each week, articles on topics of interest ranging from American pop culture and society from the news, magazines and books will be the focus of our small and large group discussions. You will discover the news through many different outlets such as newspaper, internet, television, and radio. Many different current topics will be discussed, and you will engage in conversations and debates related to recent events in the news. Topics: Gun rights, world politics, national politics, budget, recession, and many others as they arise and become relevant to our world and our role in it.

Reading & Writing Basics
Speaking and Conversation
A course that helps students build confidence in their speaking of the English language by participating in conversations on important American themes and topics. Students in this class will go on field trips in the community and develop presentations around current events and contemporary social issues that link historical events to what we experience in daily life. No classes on 11/23, 11/24, 12/22, and 12/29.
Learn to read like a writer and write like a reader. This class provides practice in building essential reading and writing skills needed for clarity in communication. Students will gain fluency and confidence in their ability to comprehend and write simple texts. You will be engaged in writing as a process and will write paragraphs and short essays, with attention to content, organizationandsentencestructure. Inaddition, students will build on their vocabulary and learn to identify main points with supporting details. $5 materials fee.

California Culture and
History
This language class will give students the skills necessary to communicate by exploring local culture. Small class size and a highly interactive approach creates a comfortable learning environment. Students will have the opportunity to learn inside the classroom and in the community by practicing English in real life situations. The first class will be held at the Adult School campus and cultural field trip information will be shared

Grammatical and punctuation mistakes make even the simplest document harder to read. This course focuses on a wide range of grammatical and syntactical structures in meaningful contexts.
