H.S. Diploma & H.S. Equivalency Exam
Adult Secondary Education (ASE) Department: High School Diploma and Equivalency Tests*
The Adult Secondary Education (ASE) Program assists students in achieving their High School Diploma or Equivalency Test (GED) and in preparing for college and work. Our Transition Team is available to work with you on your college and career goals.
To enter our program you must take a Placement Test and attend a Student Orientation to Academic Readiness (SOAR) orientation class at the Adult School. There is no processing fee. After your Placement Test and Orientation class you will make an individual counseling appointment with a member of our Transition Team. We will help you evaluate your transcript, and you will create a personalized class schedule that supports your learning goals. Classes are free and are held in both day and evening.
As part of your learning plan, you may decide to co-enroll in our Career Technical Education (CTE) courses or one of our partner community colleges to get both high school credit as well as training and/or college credit simultaneously. FUHSD Adult School, in partnership with Cupertino Rotary, has student scholarships to help pay for college tuition, test fees, or bus fare for those who qualify. This can all be discussed at your individual counseling appointment.
For students who need to "brush up" on academic skills, we have the Adult Basic Education (ABE) department (see previous page) that will do that and still allow you to earn high school diploma credit or prepare for the Equivalency Exam. Placement in ASE or ABE is based on your Placement Test score. You will need to bring all of your high school and college transcripts with you to your Placement Test.
You must pre-register as our classes DO fill up; first come, first served. You must sign up for both the Placement Test and the SOAR orientation class. Placement Test and SOAR Orientation sessions are as listed on page 6.
The next enrollment period for the 2016-2017 Adult Secondary Education (ASE) program is in January 2017. Pre-registration is open now for Placement Testing and Orientation. Please check the ASE website at ace.fuhsd.org for specific dates and for more information.
